Our leading manufacturing client based in the Northampton area are searching for a Test Support Team Leader to join their team. In this position, you will be instrumental in facilitating engine testing on dynamometers and sub-assemblies on test rigs. You’ll bring your expertise in engine test installations, with a focus on electrical systems, to support our testing environment effectively.

Key Responsibilities – Test Support Team Leader

  • Oversee the team’s workload, prioritizing tasks to deliver various projects efficiently and providing regular project status updates to management. Projects may include new installations, upgrades, breakdowns, and maintenance.
  • Manage the ticketing system used by dyno technicians and engineers for support requests.
  • Lead the electrical and electronic support systems for engine installations on dyno or rig.
  • Create electrical installation drawings and procedures.
  • Maintain calibration of dynos and rigs instrumentation and set up additional instrumentation as required.
  • Handle stock control for maintenance and consumables inventory.
  • Keep accurate records of instrumentation and calibration devices.
  • Oversee supplier selection and maintain good working relationships.

Key Qualifications & Experience – Test Support Team Leader

  • Apprentice trained or equivalent in an engineering related discipline
  • Proven experience in an engine test support environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage your workload and guide others.
  • Positive, proactive, and adaptable to shifting project priorities and new requirements.
  • Takes ownership of problems and works towards resolution, either independently or through collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams effectively.
  • Applies a structured, logical, and organized approach to tasks, delivering work in a professional manner.
  • Strong time management and planning skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of internal combustion engines and engine testing methodologies.
