Position: IT Support Engineer
Location: Rushden, Northamptonshire
Salary: 35,000 - 45,000
A forward-thinking organisation based in Rushden, Northamptonshire, is seeking a skilled IT Support Engineer to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with the Head of IT, contributing to the maintenance and management of the company's internal software, hardware, and infrastructure systems.
The successful candidate will provide 1st and 2nd line support to the business, while also collaborating with external third-party providers to ensure the smooth operation of all IT systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering 1st and 2nd line IT support across the organisation.
- Preparing and configuring computer hardware, operating systems, and applications.
- Maintaining comprehensive IT systems documentation and user guides.
- Assisting with the creation and management of user accounts and profiles.
- Supporting the rollout of new applications.
- Prioritising and managing workloads effectively, with regular updates to internal tracking systems.
- Ensuring prompt responses to IT requests.
- Managing the company's asset management system.
- Preparing reports for the IT & Business Support Manager.
- Identifying and reporting problematic areas requiring attention.
- Maintaining and supporting existing technical IT systems and infrastructure.
- Assisting in the implementation of new technologies to enhance productivity and security.
- Ensuring compliance with company IT policies and the safe storage of IT equipment.
- Coordinating with third-party IT providers to address outstanding tickets and projects.
Role Requirements:
- A minimum of 3+ years' experience in an IT environment.
- Hands-on experience with Office 365, Azure, Active Directory, Intune, Veeam, VMWare, and Hyper-V.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals.
- Familiarity with IT resources and asset management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and task management abilities.
- A proactive attitude, with the ability to challenge existing processes and suggest improvements.
- A high level of energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire for continuous improvement.
Desirable Skills:
- Exposure to Mitel telephony systems.
- Understanding of security products and awareness of the cyber threat landscape.
