We are currently partnering with one of the largest Unitary Council the UK with over 250,000 residents, who are recruiting for a Senior Lawyer (ASC) to join their team on a temporary three-month basis.

They are fleshing out the team as they have brought this area of Law back in House. Therefore, there are more long-term opportunities for the candidates that are interested.

This is available as a full-time basis with a flexible rate that is negotiable dependant on experience.

This role is hybrid requiring an office presence once a week. It is mainly based in Northamptonshire with need to come into the office every Thursday as well as attending Court when required.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Undertake a caseload of Adult Social Care matters
  • Provide detailed and accurate advice on the Council’s responsibilities under the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Health and Social Care Act 2008 and Mental Health Act 1983
  • Provide legal advice and support across a broad range of areas including Ordinary Residence, safeguarding, provider failure S117 aftercare
  • Submit applications to the Court of Protection and high Court e.g COP applications for Deputyship, welfare and best interests, DOL, S21a challenges, JR and inherent jurisdiction
  • Attend court, negotiate and conduct your own advocacy

Experience required:

  • Previous experience working within Local Government
  • Be able to undertake and manage a large caseload of Adult Social Care matters
  • To undertake all of the responsibilities with minimal managerial support
  • Must be able to do their own advocacy

Working hours:

  • Full time (35 hours a week)
  • Monday to Friday (9-5)
  • Office presence required once a week - every Thursday and attend Court when needed
