Location: Northamptonshire (3 days in office, 2 days from home)

The Role

As Engineering Manager, you will oversee all aspects of engineering operations, driving design innovation, process improvements, and project delivery. Working closely with sales, production, and R&D teams, you will ensure the seamless development and manufacturing of advanced electronic components. This role requires a strategic mindset, hands-on leadership, and strong technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Manage and prioritize engineering projects, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and innovation.
  • Product Development: Collaborate with sales and R&D teams to create a forward-thinking product roadmap.
  • Process Improvement: Define and refine assembly and testing procedures to optimize production.
  • Cost Management: Oversee job costing, labor estimations, and equipment procurement.
  • Technical Support: Work closely with customers, sales teams, and manufacturing to resolve technical challenges.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Maintain engineering documentation in line with ISO and SC21 standards.
  • Industry Engagement: Represent the company at trade shows, deliver technical presentations, and contribute to marketing materials.

About You

The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with a strong technical background within either electronic components ie.RF/Microwave, Cable Assemblies or within a electronic or mechanic manufacturing environment catering for the Aerospace/Defence or Automotive markets. You thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and are passionate about leading teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience:

? Proven experience in engineering management within a manufacturing environment
? Strong CAD expertise (ideally SolidWorks)
? Excellent communication and leadership skills
? Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across departments
? Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Desirable:

? Background in RF/Microwave, cryogenic components, or cable assemblies
? Familiarity with value stream mapping and lean manufacturing principles
