Factory/Production Manager  Northampton  Hours Monday to Thursday: 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.Salary   - Competitive. A well-established family-run business, specialising in metal fabrication, offering a variety of services such as roll forming, folding, cutting, and CNC press brake operations. With a focus on niche customer specifications, the company prides itself on delivering high-quality, custom metal fabrication solutions. Our client is seeking a hands-on Factory/Production Manager join their team and oversee daily operations in the manufacturing facility. This is a key role within the business, and the successful candidate will be responsible for both the management and operation of the factory floor, working closely with the owner and a small team to deliver exceptional products to customers.The Production Manager will be involved in programming and operating CNC machines including the Schechtl CNC Folder and Morgan Rushworth CNC Press Brake, as well as managing the overall workflow. In addition to operational responsibilities, the role requires managing materials, overseeing quality control, and ensuring all jobs are completed to the highest standards.Duties
  • Hands-on management of day-to-day factory operations, ensuring smooth and efficient production.
  • Programming and operating CNC machinery, specifically Schechtl CNC Folder and Morgan Rushworth 4M PBS CNC Press Brake.
  • Leading and overseeing a small team, ensuring tasks are delegated and completed on time.
  • Conducting quality control of all manufactured products to meet customer specifications and internal standards.
  • Managing job sheets reviewing and interpreting customer specifications, ensuring accurate execution.
  • Controlling raw materials and stock to ensure uninterrupted production flow.
  • Working closely with the owner to coordinate jobs and meet production targets.
  • Maintaining health and safety standards and ensuring the factory's general housekeeping is performed to a high standard.
  • Ensuring compliance with operational procedures and company policies.
The Candidate
  • Proven experience in a production or factory management role, ideally within a metal fabrication environment.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming and operation, particularly with Schechtl CNC Folder and Morgan Rushworth CNC Press Brake (or similar machines).
  • Ability to work hands-on and lead a small team in a busy production environment.
  • A counterbalance forklift license is highly desirable; a combi forklift license is a plus but not essential.
  • Strong attention to detail with a solution-focused approach.
  • Experience working with niche customer specifications and a strong understanding of quality control.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working closely with the business owner to drive operational success.
  • Logical, solution-oriented and a natural problem solver.
