My client is an established multi-disciplined civil engineering contractor and with the recent award of a long-term maintenance programme are recruiting for a Site Manager to strengthen their Delivery Team on the Anglian Water framework in Northampton.

Working on clean water and water recycling asset maintenance projects across the Anglian Water region, candidates will manage daily activities of direct and subcontract teams, oversee health and safety standards (including POSWSH) and optimise workforce to meet deadlines.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Managing all health and safety issues on site and completing relevant paperwork including weekly safety and environmental inspections, toolbox talks and site-specific RAMS.
  • Acting as a health and safety ambassador across the business by driving cultural change into the Delivery/Design Teams and eliminating/minimising physical and non-physical waste ( recycling techniques, workshop recharges and standing time).
  • Managing multiple concurrent projects by proactively leading site-based Supervisors and Delivery Teams to ensure safety, quality and time frames drive performance.
  • Conducting projects in line with tender allowances and agreed programmes of work, actively managing any slippage.
  • Proactively assisting planning process to ensure initiatives are implemented with minimal disruption, including resourcing, project requirements and estimations.
  • Procuring plant, materials and specialist subcontractors using an appropriate financial management accounting system to ensure projects are delivered within tender allowances.
  • Attending internal/external meetings and visit sites within a 70 mile radius of Northampton.
  • Undertaking and recording SHEQ performance of projects and presenting findings of periodic SHEQ visits to senior management.

Successful candidates will possess:

  • HNC/HND in Construction Management (preferred).
  • Previous experience within the M&E, utilities or water sectors (essential).
  • Valid CSCS, First Aid at Works and SMSTS accreditation.
  • Adept at working to budget and programme.
  • Commercial and contractual awareness.
  • Value engineering to minimise costs during project construction phases.
  • Effective management of subcontractors.
  • Ability to influence client decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of legislative and corporate SHEQ, industry and legal requirements.
  • IT proficiency with MS Office (Excel and Outlook) software.
  • Exceptional communication skills to develop new/existing business relationships.
