The role

CABE is on a journey to become the leading multi-disciplinary professional body in the UK, Republic of Ireland and overseas.

As Membership Director you will use your insight and knowledge to shape the Association’s membership offer – supporting the needs of  modern Building Engineers and construction professionals.

As part of the senior executive team, you will take full responsibility for the leadership and strategic direction of our membership and operational activities across the UK, Republic of Ireland and our Asia Pacific office. To delivering high quality professional services, creating membership growth and delivering excellent external facing activities.

You will provide support and guidance to CABE’s CEO and board across the strategic development of the Association and engage with government and regulators to build CABE’s credibility and brand value.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a membership growth strategy, working with the other senior executives on integrating this into the Association
  • Responsible for the membership budget and forecasting processes, along with the Membership Fee structure.
  • Lead and manage the activities and structures required for the Membership Professional Standards Committee (MPSC)
  • Lead, design and implement the core membership offering in line with the standards and specialist technical sections aimed at diversifying our membership structure and delivering on excellence in our membership services
  • Identify and assess the on-going structures and strategic development in APAC, working with our Hong Kong office supporting the operational and membership structures and as a Director of the Hong Kong Limited Company.
  • Engage directly with the membership to help development of core professional standards through training, CPD and external engagement
  • Support wider HQ operations by using your industry knowledge and understanding to respond to queries raised by non-technical members of staff
  • Lead the Membership Services team, ensuring positive and proactive operational procedures are implemented and managed effectively in a highly professional manner on a daily basis
  • Ensure the Membership Services team provide to our members a highly effective customer focused service and that their PDR’s and objectives are aligned to the Associations strategic direction
  • Direct through your team all membership queries and questions, including International, ensuring where necessary the team members and staff across the Association can provide the support members require
  • Support the Head of Membership Services in the delivery of our Engineering Council and Society of the Environment licensing regulations
  • Establish strong, long-term partnerships and membership relationships
  • Manage and define a revised Company Partnership offer and undertake regular engagement with company partners
  • Lead the programme of membership benefits and external partnership benefits, designing and refining the offering aligned to the strategic Association plans
  • Act as the liaison between external partnerships and internal teams, managing any service concerns raised by members
  • Provide the necessary membership reports required by the CEO and Board on a bi-monthly basis ensuring that information is available on both strategic and operational actions and achievement of targets

Qualification and skills:

  • A qualification equivalent to A-Level/Degree in a related discipline or the equivalent experience
  • At least five years at a similar level
  • Proven experience in customer service and external relationship management
  • Experience of working within a not-for-profit Association or within the built environment is preferred but not essential
