Job Purpose:

A growing, forward-thinking company seeks a Payroll Specialist for its Northampton team. This full-time role offers a supportive culture, career growth, and hybrid and flexible working options.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage payroll services for a diverse client portfolio.
  • Process payrolls weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually as required.
  • Handle starters, leavers, statutory payments, RTI submissions, and pension deductions.
  • Set up and close PAYE schemes with HMRC, acting as the primary contact.
  • Ensure compliance with auto-enrolment pension regulations and upload contributions.
  • Submit BACS files, HMRC RTI information (FPS & EPS), and meet deadlines.
  • Prepare P45s, P60s, Starter Declarations, and other relevant forms.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure payroll accuracy and provide support.
  • Communicate with clients, staff, directors, and HMRC.
  • Assist clients with payroll system management.
  • Support and collaborate with team members.

Person Specification:

  • Strong IT skills, with the ability to quickly learn new software packages.
  • Highly organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-starter with a high level of resilience and initiative.
  • Effective team player who can also work independently.

Key Experience:

  • Processing payroll for a variety of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Managing starters, leavers, statutory payments, RTI submissions, and pension deductions.
  • Acting as the primary contact with HMRC for PAYE-related matters.
  • Submitting BACS files and HMRC RTI information (FPS & EPS) within the required deadlines.
  • Providing payroll support to clients, answering queries, and resolving issues.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Hours of Work:

  • Flexible working of 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday) with the option for hybrid working (up to 2 days from home).
