Are you an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking for your next career opportunity?

You will be working for a Tier 1 Main Contractor offering a solutions-focused approach to developing, constructing, and operating large accommodation-based schemes. This covers residential, student accommodation, and care & retirement accommodation based around the Midlands.

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in supporting the commercial team initially on projects in and around Northampton / Oxford. You will assist in managing the financial and contractual aspects of the project, ensuring accurate cost control and contributing to the overall success of the project. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and learn from experienced professionals in the industry.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the management of commercial and contractual aspects of projects.
  • Supporting cost analysis, estimating, and accurate forecasting.
  • Assisting in the evaluation and valuation of variations.
  • Collaborating with the project team to ensure effective cost control and risk management.
  • Liaising with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain strong relationships.
  • Assisting in the procurement process, including subcontractor selection and negotiation.
  • Contributing to project financial performance monitoring and reporting.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and procedures.

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or a related role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial and contractual processes within the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with cost analysis, budget management, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
