This is a unique opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of young people aged 11 to 16 who face significant social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

About the School: Our client is an independent special school renowned for its supportive and nurturing environment. The school caters to students with a range of social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, many of whom have experienced disrupted education, low attendance, and exclusion from mainstream education. The students often have additional needs, including dyslexia, social communication difficulties, ADHD, autism, and Tourette's syndrome.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated Maths lessons tailored to the diverse needs of SEN students, ensuring alignment with the national curriculum.
  • Individualised Support: Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) to support students' academic and personal growth, regularly assessing and adjusting these plans to meet evolving needs.
  • Positive Classroom Environment: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes emotional well-being and academic achievement, managing behaviour effectively to ensure a safe and conducive learning space.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Monitor, assess, and report on student progress through regular formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including SENCOs, teaching assistants, and external professionals, to provide holistic support for students.
  • Parental Engagement: Build strong relationships with parents and guardians, keeping them informed of their child's progress and working collaboratively to support their child's educational journey.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay abreast of best practices in SEN education and Maths instruction.
  • Resource Management: Utilise and manage classroom resources effectively to enhance learning experiences, including integrating technology where appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Applicants must hold QTS to be considered.
  • Mathematics Experience: Proven experience teaching Maths, ideally within an SEN setting.
  • DBS Check: Must have a DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
  • Availability: Full-time commitment is essential.
