The role:

The role of the Bi-borough SEN Coordinator as a temporary member of staff will be a hybrid role, in that our core structure is made up of pairings with a shared caseload, that undertake different responsibilities. This job may include undertaking the responsibilities for either role as we use temporary staff flexibly to ensure that gaps in the service are filled.

Westminster City Council and the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea have a shared SEN service where all officers cover a caseload for residents and schools across both areas.

The purpose of the role is to provide comprehensive casework management and administrative support to ensure the effectiveness of the SEN Service for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the City of Westminster in accordance with the requirements of the Children's & Families Act 2014 and the SEN Code of Practice 2015.

The Family Hub Early Years Practitioner will also deliver a variety of individual and evidence-based group interventions with children and families as directed by Family Hub Cluster Manager.

Skills and Experience

  • Level 3 in Early Years (EYFS) or recognised Level 3 qualification in early education or childcare
  • Knowledge of needs of children under 5 and their development in line with current legislation and strategies, including Children Act, Safeguarding Children and Healthy Child Programme
  • Ability to demonstrate awareness/understanding of equal opportunities and other people's behaviour, physical, social and welfare needs
  • The post-holder should be committed to working with children and families from diverse backgrounds and to working with them to promote positive health and social outcomes
