Job Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Team Lead - Test & Validation to manage our High Voltage (HV) Test Facility. This role ensures operational efficiency, safety, and quality in delivering top-tier testing services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HV systems testing, team leadership, and operational excellence within engineering or motorsport sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

Facility Management & Safety:

  • Oversee HV Test Facility, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and best practices to drive efficiency.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead the Development, Validation, and Verification Testing (DVP) team, ensuring projects meet requirements, risks are mitigated, and engineering decisions are de-risked.

Test Procedures & Documentation:

  • Generate and maintain Test Procedures, ensuring accurate data and metrics capture.

Planning & Logistics:

  • Manage HV systems testing logistics for both internal and external projects, including customer support and fault-finding.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to assess testing facilities and develop business cases for in-house solutions.

End-of-Line Testing:

  • Own the EOL testing process by identifying requirements and implementing solutions.

Problem Solving:

  • Resolve testing issues in collaboration with Engineering teams, driving continuous improvement.

Parts Management:

  • Oversee parts planning to ensure component availability for testing.

Test Approvals & Reporting:

  • Review and approve Test Plans, Procedures, and Reports, aligning with project standards.

Build Documentation & Risk Assessments:

  • Assist in producing Build Documentation, including work instructions and risk assessments.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and equipment compliance.

Collaboration with Powertrain Manager:

  • Work with the Powertrain Manager on schedules, timelines, and validation for HV Build & Test activities.

Mentorship & Development:

  • Provide mentorship and engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to promote team skill growth.

Business Processes & Communication:

  • Ensure timely completion of business documentation and foster effective team communication.

Additional Support:

  • Assist Powertrain Manager with requests and resolve engineering issues via the 5C Concerns Process.

Shipping & Packaging:

  • Support the packaging and shipment of Powertrain components.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Advanced formal training in a related engineering field (BTEC, ONC, 'A' Levels, or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience in building and testing HV systems/components in OEM, Tier 1 supplier, engineering consultancy, or motorsport environments.
  • Proven experience managing significant engineering projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and resourcing.
  • Experience working with systems up to 800V as a Senior Authorised Person.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Expertise in creating and following detailed work procedures and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Basic fabrication and machining skills (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills, adaptable, and customer-focused with strong problem-solving abilities.
