A highly reputable SEN School Group is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join the permanent staff list of their independent special school in Northampton. Key Responsibilities:
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of SEN students.
- Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and provide targeted interventions to support student progress.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and well-being.
- Assist with the preparation of classroom materials and resources.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them to overcome barriers to learning.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and other professionals.
- Promote positive behavior and support the social and emotional development of students.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to support the holistic development of students.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people, preferably within an SEN setting.
- Understanding of SEN teaching strategies and familiarity with the SEN Code of Practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive school culture.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to learn and grow in the role.
Desirable Attributes:
- Additional qualifications or training in SEN education.
- Experience in using assistive technology and innovative teaching resources to support SEN learners.
- Involvement in extracurricular activities and a willingness to contribute to the wider school community.
