This key leadership position reports to the Finance Director, overseeing financial controls, compliance, and external stakeholder management while ensuring accurate and timely reporting across all areas. Description
- Leadership & Strategy - Supporting the Finance Director, leading the financial accounting team, partnering with the Executive Leadership Team, and managing relationships with the global shared service center.
- Financial Controls & Compliance - Ensuring accurate balance sheet management, tax compliance (corporate tax, VAT), IFRS & UK GAAP reporting, and overseeing financial audits and Companies House filings.
- Working Capital & Cash Flow Management - Managing cash flow, capex reporting, currency requirements, pensions, and external financial relationships (banks, auditors, HMRC, pension trustees).
- Process Improvement & Governance - Developing and maintaining financial processes, controls, and policies while driving continuous improvement in reporting, expenditure management, and financial strategy.
Profile
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) with a strong technical background in IFRS and UK GAAP reporting, financial controls, and compliance. They will have proven leadership and people management experience, with the ability to develop and motivate a finance team while driving process improvements. A commercially aware and strategic thinker, they will have strong communication skills to effectively partner with senior leadership and external stakeholders, including banks, auditors, and HMRC. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate proactive problem-solving abilities, a keen eye for detail, and experience managing tax, cash flow, pensions, and working capital within a complex, regulated business environment. Experience with SAP and shared service centers is desirable.
