Job Title: Maintenance Fitter

Location: Northwich, CheshireSalary: Up to £42,000 per year (dependent on experience)Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm (with occasional extended hours depending on project deadlines)

We are working with a leading Chemical Engineering firm to find a Maintenance Engineer to join their dynamic team.

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the Engineering team. You will be trained across all aspects of engineering and be a hands-on contributor to site maintenance and asset management, ensuring compliance with safety standards. You will also gain valuable experience throughout the life cycle of various projects and contribute to both reactive and proactive maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform reactive maintenance and troubleshoot production issues when they arise.
  • Carry out scheduled, proactive maintenance to minimise downtime.
  • Support the maintenance and asset management system, ensuring tasks and reports are up-to-date.
  • Oversee contractors on-site and ensure documentation and data comply with site standards.
  • Report regularly to the Engineering Manager and escalate issues as required.
  • Work across the entire project life cycle, from design and system verification to ongoing maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience: A strong background in mechanical fitting or pipe fitting within a chemical engineering or similar industrial environment.
  • Qualifications: City & Guilds or NVQ in Maintenance principles, or an apprenticeship in an engineering discipline. Additional qualifications in forklift, scissor lift, and lifting/slinging are desirable.
  • Skills: Computer literacy, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work well with others.
  • Health & Safety Focused: A good understanding of risk assessments, method statements, and UK legislation (CDM, HSWA).

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally overseas.
  • Ability to adapt and work across multiple projects at different stages of their lifecycle.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
