To be the Education Strategic Lead for all matters relating to the statutory processes and responsibilities of Suspension, Medical Needs, Fair Access Protocol and Alternative Provision. To promote the Inclusion agenda in all schools and settings.

To manage a team in order to deliver high quality service for vulnerable children suffering from long term illness, those at risk of permanent suspension from school and those who have been permanently suspension from school in line with legislation, government statutory guidance, council policy and good practice.Responsibilties

  • Lead the council's statutory duties to ensure compliance with the DfE statutory guidance on Alternative Provision, ensuring all children and young people, where possible, have access to high-quality full-time education.
  • Manage and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for commissioned places at Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), ensuring quality assurance processes are in place and regularly reviewed.
  • Oversee the monitoring, challenge, and support for schools to ensure children at risk of suspension or non-engagement due to ill health have access to full-time education, maintaining a central database of these students.
  • Provide advice and support to Headteachers, Governors, and senior leadership teams to foster inclusive practices and develop a suspension training program for educational leaders.
  • Collaborate with schools and staff to design and deliver targeted support programs for students at risk of suspension or disengagement, helping prepare them for reintegration.
  • Ensure effective performance management, staff development, and safeguarding training, adhering to current CWaC guidance.
  • Manage a team budget efficiently, deploying resources in line with the Collaborative Planning management system, and ensure compliance with national Alternative Provision policies and guidelines.
