A leading FMCG company is seeking a Departmental Engineering Manager to provide exceptional engineering leadership at their Cheshire site. This critical role supports the site's 24/7 operations, ensuring the engineering team delivers superb service levels in alignment with strategic business operations goals. The manager will be instrumental in maintaining the safe, effective, and efficient operation of the department through both direct and indirect reports, promoting continuous improvement and high-quality maintenance outcomes.

The Departmental Engineering Manager will be responsible for delivering consistent engineering support, coaching teams, and enhancing the site's health, safety, and environmental culture.

They will lead with decisiveness, delegate tasks effectively, and utilise digital systems to optimise plant performance and make informed commercial decisions.

The role demands managing KPIs, striving for 'best in class' standards, and leading continuous improvement projects to boost departmental and asset performance.

Candidates should have over 5 years of experience in Maintenance Engineering following completion of an apprenticeship or a relevant university degree, preferably within an FMCG environment.

Skills required for the Departmental Engineering Manager:

  • Advanced expertise in Health Safety & Environment, Enterprise Performance Management, Operational Excellence, and Process Development & Engineering.
  • Robust mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge, ideally to NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
  • High proficiency in PC use, with strong presentation skills and the capability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Proven experience in leading, inspiring, and developing high-performance teams.
