Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a specialist land promotion business focused on delivering land with planning permission to the housebuilding and logistics/manufacturing sectors.

Position Summary

As an Assistant Land & Planning Manager, you will play a key role in driving the land promotion process. From the identification and acquisition of land through to the submission and negotiation of planning applications, you will be instrumental in the successful management of the Strategic Land portfolio. This position covers a regional area and focuses on identifying new growth opportunities, maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders, and advancing planning applications for strategic development sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Land & Local Plan Promotion: Lead local plan promotion work, managing consultants, and engaging with local authorities and other stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with external property contacts including local authorities, agents, landowners, and developers to identify and secure land opportunities.
  • Long-term Strategy: Identify key areas for growth and future opportunities, building business cases for long-term land strategy across the region.
  • Landowner Engagement: Liaise with landowners throughout the land promotion process, ensuring clear communication and alignment on site progress.
  • Community Engagement: Represent at public events such as community drop-in sessions, parish council meetings, and other stakeholder engagements to ensure successful site promotion.

Requirements:

My client are seeking to recruit a new addition to the North region, reporting to our Regional Manager. Ideally, you will

  • Have experience in land acquisition and portfolio management.
  • Proven experience in managing strategic land portfolios.
  • Be based in or around the South Manchester/Cheshire area.
  • Be able to travel with 2 days in the office.
  • Have a proactive, results-driven mindset, capable of identifying growth opportunities and driving them forward.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment.
