About the Role:Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? We are looking for an inspiring English teacher to join a dynamic and supportive SEMH school in Macclesfield. This role involves delivering engaging and differentiated English lessons tailored to students aged 13-16 who face significant barriers to learning. You will play a crucial role in helping students develop their academic skills and emotional resilience, preparing them for reintegration into mainstream education and life beyond school.
About the School:This school is a nationally recognised Alternative Provision (AP) that specialises in transforming the lives of students at risk of permanent exclusion or struggling to engage in mainstream education. With facilities to cater for up to 90 students, the school offers a highly ambitious curriculum and holistic support to inspire creativity and a love of learning. The school recently opened a specialist skills centre, providing vocational training in subjects like bricklaying, carpentry, plumbing, construction, fashion design, textile design, and hair & beauty. This innovative approach ensures students have access to a broad and balanced education, equipping them with the skills and confidence to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons that cater to the individual needs of SEMH students.
- Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that fosters emotional and academic growth.
- Work collaboratively with support staff and external professionals to ensure holistic development.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and adapting strategies as needed.
- Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) to support students' unique learning needs.
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and the wider community to create a supportive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Passionate about working with young people with SEMH needs.
- Experienced in teaching English at secondary level, with a strong understanding of SEMH best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a commitment to making a positive impact.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with relevant experience in SEMH settings.
