Reed Accountancy Norwich are seeking a Senior Finance Officer to join our client, with whom we have a long-term relationship, to manage the day-to-day accounting functions within their team. This role is crucial in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring that both month-end and year-end deadlines are met. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, this position offers a great opportunity to lead a team of Finance Assistants and contribute significantly to the financial health and development of our client's organisation.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Oversee the Finance Assistants to ensure timely and high-quality transactional processing.
  • Financial Recording and Controls: Ensure all income and expenditure are recorded in compliance with accounting policies and statutory requirements. Develop procedures to strengthen financial controls.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage supplier payments and sales invoicing processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Banking and Reconciliations: Keep bank reconciliations up-to-date and manage banking transactions effectively.
  • Reporting: Handle month-end reporting and prepare balance sheets with accurate reconciliations.
  • Year-End Duties: Assist in producing information for year-end accounts and participate in the audit process.
  • Continuous Improvement: Aim to continually enhance the finance function to support the organisation effectively.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • AAT qualified or actively studying towards a qualification.
  • Strong experience in managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and nominal ledger.
  • Proven experience in managing a small team.
  • Excellent technical accounting skills and knowledge of regulatory issues.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, financial software applications, and spreadsheets.
  • Exceptional time management, planning skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
