Construction Manager

Project: Sports Hall Build 

Location: HMP Norwich, UK

Work Hours: Mon - Fri - 07:30 - 17:30 (flexible based on project requirements)

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the construction of a sports hall project at HMP Norwich.
  • Manage both external and internal works of the sports hall build (steel frame structure already in place).
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure the project runs smoothly, on time, and within budget.
  • Lead and manage the on-site team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards on-site.
  • Monitor progress and quality of work to meet the specifications and requirements.
  • Provide regular updates to project managers and other key stakeholders.
  • Manage and resolve any challenges or issues on-site, ensuring minimal disruption to the project.
  • Work in a challenging environment, with a particular focus on the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and prison settings (knowledge of these environments is a plus).
  • Ensure the site is maintained in a safe, organized, and efficient manner.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
  • Black CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
  • NVQ Level 6 or equivalent in Construction or Project Management.
  • Experience working in challenging environments such as prisons or MoJ sites is desirable.
  • Fully IT Conversant with experience in construction-related software for reporting, planning, and managing projects.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative, while also demonstrating strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Prior experience in managing external and internal works on a sports hall or similar type of build is advantageous.

Additional Information:

  • Rate: £300 - £350 per day (dependent on experience).
  • Candidates should ideally be located within a practical commuting distance of Norwich.
  • The project involves a steel frame structure, with a focus on internal and external works to complete the sports hall.
  • Short interview process to be held before the start date.
