Your new companyHays Accountancy & Finance are supporting an expanding SME organisation based on the eastern side of Norwich, who are looking for a sole bookkeeper / finance clerk / accounts assistant, to support the business owners with day-to-day bookkeeping and general Head Office administration.

Your new roleAs the bookkeeper / finance clerk, you will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping transactions covering sales & purchase ledger processing, producing financial statements and reconciling the bank accounts to check for daily cash flow reporting. You will also assist with the preparation of yearly budgeting and financial forecasting, so this role would ideally suit an AAT student with experience of bookkeeping who is keen to take on more responsibility in time, which may involve monthly management accounting.

Other current duties will also involve collating payroll data and dealing with payroll queries, as your administration duties will also involve dealing with HR administration and other office-related tasks required for working with an owner-managed business, but your core responsibilities will be finance. They use Xero accounting software, and we expect you to be confident with Excel as well as willing to review processes to improve efficiencies.What you'll need to succeedYou will have proven experience in ledger transactions / bookkeeping to trial balance and ideally experience of month & year-end close along with at least an understanding of monthly management accounts and cashflow. As for the right person, the role may develop further as the business expands as they have a number of new ventures.

As explained earlier, you will also take responsibility for certain office tasks, including HR administration, so you must be comfortable with a varied workload. Systems wise, you will be confident with Excel and any experience of Xero would be ideal.
