General Manager

We are seeking a self-motivated General Manager for a well-established Contract Cleaning provider with exciting growth plans. This role involves managing all operations to ensure the effective delivery of contracts across education, commercial, and manufacturing multisites.

  • Salary: £35,000 - £50,000
  • Location: Covering Norfolk and part of Suffolk
  • Job Type: Full-time

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Oversee day-to-day management and maintenance of the cleaning service within the contract specification to meet agreed performance, qualitative, and financial targets.
  • Direct interaction with clients to understand their needs and ensure the cleaning services provided meet their expectations.
  • Manage scheduling, staffing, and hiring of cleaning associates to ensure personnel are highly skilled and competent, fulfilling client requirements in terms of location and times.
  • Lead a team of Contracts Managers, Operations Managers, mobile supervisors, and operatives, ensuring sites are properly supervised and specified cleaning standards are consistently met and maintained.
  • Maintain profit and loss accounts to ensure the business operates in a compliant and profitable manner.
  • Handle recruitment and compliance of new staff, and purchasing of products and services.
  • Monitor performance through onsite inspections.
  • Manage and ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations, including COSHH.
  • Engage in business development activities, working closely with Directors to explore new business opportunities, develop relationships, and win new contracts.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in industrial or contract cleaning.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills, with the ability to forward plan and work under pressure according to client SLAs and KPIs.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety systems in the cleaning industry.
  • Experience with financial forecasting, budgeting, and analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop staff and client relationships.
  • Must hold a full driving license and be able to travel to various sites.
