Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Our client, a rapidly growing leader in the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) market, renowned for their cutting-edge solutions, is expanding following a recent company restructure driven by significant growth. They are now seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to take full ownership of their electrical department. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of electrical engineers, guiding them to success while remaining deeply involved in the hands-on design process.

Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Responsibilities:

Design electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and wiring diagrams in AutoCAD Electrical, and generate BOMs in Vault, ensuring standards compliance.
Create cable schedules for AC/DC circuits, including ampacity calculations and component selection.
Design and configure panels for BESS, selecting components like breakers, fuses, and relays, and perform safety, load, and thermal analysis.
Collaborate closely with Electrical and Software teams to ensure system integration.
Manage requirements and keep stakeholders informed for project alignment.
Develop testing specifications, plans, and interconnection requirements.
Create and maintain product documentation, including manuals and work instructions.
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure successful BESS system development.
Perform electrical simulations for system analysis.
Oversee the approval and certification process for electrical designs.
Supervise electrical testing and validation of BESS systems to ensure safety and compliance.
Troubleshoot electrical system issues during commissioning for smooth operations.
Mentor junior engineers, providing technical and career development support.

Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Requirements:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline.
5+ years of experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software.
Strong expertise in power systems design, including hands-on experience with power electronics, inverters, DC/AC conversion, and battery storage technologies.
Ideally, 5+ years of electrical engineering experience with a focus on designing and testing power systems and control panels.
Proven ability to design electrical circuits up to 1000 VAC / 1500 VDC, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
Must have a background within renewable energy (BESS or Solar)

Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Benefits:

Competitive day rate circa £500 per day depending on experience.
Ability to work outside of IR35.
6-12 month contract.
Flexibility to work from home up to 2 days per week.
