One of the leading providers of business supplies and services with over 135 years in the business are expanding their sales teams and are seeking an experienced Bid Response Supervisor, to work mainly with Public Sector clients.

Role Overview:

The Bid Response Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and support of a small team of bid writers. This role ensures tender opportunities are reviewed and assigned promptly, while working closely with the Sales Teams to help produce high-quality, persuasive written proposals. The supervisor plays a hands-on role in both bid writing and team support, ensuring standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and quality-check non-commercial bid responses for tenders over £100k and more than 1BN, annually before forwarding to the Sales Team.
  • Provide daily guidance, support, and mentoring to Bids & Tender Executives.
  • Support the maintenance and coordination of the Bid Library, ensuring documents are kept up-to-date and allocated within the team appropriately.
  • Track potential tendering opportunities through tender databases and market research.
  • Keep the bid response library and supporting documents current and well-organized.
  • Take part in storyboard and strategy meetings for tenders you are involved with, providing input and summaries as required.
  • Coordinate contributions from various departmentssuch as Pricing, Contracts, Implementation, Operations, IT, and Financeto support the tender response process.
  • Write and assist in producing compelling, tailored business responses for each assigned tender.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring deadlines are met and responses are submitted to the appropriate party, whether internal or external.
  • Help facilitate legal review of contract terms and conditions and communicate key points to Sales or Management.
  • Participate in client briefings before and after tender submissions when needed.
  • Gather, analyse, and report on feedback from tender evaluations to help improve future submissions.
  • Offer assistance and backup to Sales Team members in relation to bidding processes.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Strong commercial awareness and business understanding, especially with the Public Sector
  • Demonstrated experience in successful bid writing
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Capable of managing personal workload effectively
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word (intermediate/advanced) and general IT systems
  • Strong written, verbal, and numerical skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple inputs and work streams
  • Creative approach to problem-solving and written communication
