Our client is looking for an Associate HR Business Partner for about 3-6 months.  This is a hybrid position.  Provide first-line support for all operational business partnering services under the guidance of the HR Business Partners. This role involves advising and supporting line managers on various human resource management issues, developing and reviewing policies and procedures, and managing organizational change. A key function is to develop the skills and capacity of managers to empower them to manage people issues effectively and independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain effective HR business partnering relationships across designated client areas.
  • Provide high-quality, consistent, robust, proactive, and prompt advice and support to managers and employees.
  • Advise on employee relations casework such as discipline, grievance, performance, and dignity at work.
  • Guide and support managers with investigations, preparation of reports, and assistance at hearings.
  • Support and guide managers with employee health, wellbeing, and attendance management.
  • Liaise with health and safety, occupational health, and other wellbeing providers.
  • Work with HR Business Partners to nurture a performance management culture.
  • Support change management programs, including consultation documents and meetings.
  • Develop people management skills across the organization through coaching and training.
  • Collaborate with HR and Organizational Development colleagues on various projects.
  • Work collaboratively with key partners, including trades unions and managers, on transformation projects.
  • Champion and embed equality, diversity, inclusivity, and the University’s values within all activities.
  • Continually update personal knowledge and skills through research and networking.
  • Deputize for HR Business Partners when needed.

Person Specification:

  • MCIPD (or working towards), and/or demonstrable experience in a similar role.
  • Good generalist HR knowledge and judgement with up-to-date knowledge of employment law and best practices.
  • Experience in employee relations casework, performance management, disciplinary and grievance cases.
  • Experience contributing to HR projects that support HR strategy and business objectives.
  • Experience in supporting organizational change.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent organizational skills to manage work effectively in a busy environment.
  • Well-developed analytical and critical reasoning skills.
  • Strong people management skills, including conflict resolution.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex situations.
  • Ability to assess and manage risk, including understanding relevant Health & Safety issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships and influence at all levels.
  • Professional approach with diplomacy and adaptability in sensitive situations.
  • High-quality communication skills, both oral and written, with excellent presentation skills.
  • Commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
  • Proven IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
