Our client, a well-established company with a rich heritage in niche manufacturing, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Environmental & Quality Advisor. This is a full-time permanent role with 39 hours per week, ideal for a seasoned professional or someone ready to take the next step in their career.

Job Purpose:

As the Environmental & Quality Advisor, you will play a critical role in advising and managing the Quality and Environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with BS EN ISO 14001 and BS EN ISO 9001. You will also be responsible for managing compliance with environmental, health & safety, and quality legislation, with a focus on COMAH and energy compliance in a high-hazard manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise and maintain Quality and Environmental management systems to defined standards.
  • Direct auditing and monitoring activities to ensure compliance.
  • Act as the primary contact for external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies.
  • Lead and monitor compliance with environmental, health & safety, and quality legislation.
  • Manage REACH registrations and evaluate chemical safety data sheets.
  • Oversee control and remediation of historical ground contamination.
  • Advise on quality assurance in manufacturing processes and vendor appraisals.
  • Ensure compliance with energy-related legislation, including UK ETS, SECR, and ESOS.
  • Support new product evaluations and assess impacts on legal and permit obligations.

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Science degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience operating ISO 9001 and 14001 management systems.
  • Experience with environmental permits and regulated sites.
  • Proven experience liaising with regulatory bodies.

Desirable:

  • Chemistry degree or related qualification.
  • Experience in high-hazard industries, including COMAH.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 and safety management systems.
  • IEMA membership or similar regulatory compliance qualifications.
