Our school aims to support young people who have self-excluded from school for various reasons, including Emotionally Based School Avoidance. Our students often come to us due Emotional and Mental Health needs that were not able to be met in their previous school. Our provision has proved to be particularly suitable for autistic and neurodivergent young people.

We are seeking a Deputy Headteacher to join our team and play a key role in shaping the educational experience of our students. This is an exciting opportunity to lead on teaching, learning, and safeguarding, ensuring every student receives the support they need to thrive.

About the Role

As Deputy Headteacher, you will:

  • Take a leading role in managing the Centre, stepping in for the Headteacher when required.

  • Oversee the quality of teaching and learning, developing a curriculum that is broad, balanced, and tailored to student needs.

  • Serve as a Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring robust child protection practices.

  • Mentor and manage staff, including performance appraisals, and drive a culture of collaboration and excellence.

  • Use data to monitor student progress, adapting provision to achieve outstanding outcomes.

  • Contribute to staff professional development, supporting Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and trainee teachers.

  • Teach as required, modeling best practices to inspire students and colleagues.

This is a pivotal leadership role that combines strategic oversight with hands-on involvement in teaching and student support.
