An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Hygiene Manager to lead and champion hygiene standards at a leading food manufacturing site in Norwich. This role offers the chance to drive continuous improvement, build team capability, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
The candidate;
- Experience in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) or similar environment, with a background in hygiene management.
- Proven experience in leading and managing teams.
- HACCP Level 3 qualification.
- Strong knowledge of BRC and retailer audit compliance.
- Experience in allergen management and validation.
- Ability to present and manage hygiene plans during audits.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
- Passion for coaching and developing teams.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to the hygiene and operations teams, ensuring hygiene standards are effectively managed and continuously improved.
- Embed hygiene activities into operational schedules in collaboration with production teams.
- Ensure compliance with customer policies, codes of practice, and external certification requirements.
- Support teams in maintaining Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and factory standards through training and validation.
- Develop and maintain hygiene schedules, procedures, and work instructions in line with BRC and retailer codes of practice.
- Assist the Technical and QA teams with allergen management, risk assessments, verification, and validation.
- Oversee hygiene standards and audits, ensuring effective reporting against internal and customer KPIs.
- Investigate, communicate, and report hygiene-related incidents, supporting the resolution of non-conformances.
- Lead hygiene-related activities during customer visits and audits to ensure successful outcomes.
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance team knowledge and skills.
