Carbon60 are currently looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join a client of ours based in Norwich. This position is a temp to perm position.

Working Hours/Shift Pattern: 39 hours/ week, 8am - 16:30, Monday - Thursday, 8am - 15:30 Friday, 30 min lunch

Type of Employment: 12 weeks temporary to permanent.

Pay/Salary: Dependant on experience

  • Band 2 31050/ annum, 15.31/hour
  • Band 3 34184/annum, 16.86/hour
  • Band 4 36984/annum, 18.24/hour

Main duties & responsibilities:

  • You will carry out Repairs to all types of industrial equipment including AC and DC motors, Motorised Gearboxes, Gearbox's, Pumps, Fan units, Generators and other associated rotating equipment
    • Size of component can vary significantly from one job to the next - could be a fractional horse powered fan unit, then next one could be a 5-ton DC mill motor or large vertical pump
  • You will have the ability to fault find and identify and rectify defects and worn / damaged components
  • Advantageous to have basic electrical testing capability to assess electrical condition of AC & DC components - will be taking examination to verify and won't be working alone
  • Have sound mechanical engineering knowledge to identify and rectify faulty and worn / damaged components
  • You will be flexible and be prepared to work the hours required in a demanding and busy 24 / 7 service orientated environment
  • Participate in call out rota as required
  • Site working experience and CCNSG passport is advantageous, use company vehicle to travel to different sites - 3rd party will provide

Essential skills / experience / qualifications:

  • Active clean UK driving license essential
  • Engineering background, NVQ Level 3, ONC, HNC City and Guilds or equivalent Time served also applicable highly preferable
  • Need to have practical skillset as well as academic understanding of mechanical aspects
  • Able to meet physical demands of the role
  • Understanding of repairing rotating equipment with or without direct prior experience
  • Manual machining/lathing experience advantageous
  • Understanding engineering technical drawings
