A Real Estate Group is looking for a Head of Legal Practice to help set up and grow their own Solicitors firm to enable them to be able to complete their all-round service they look to provide through their Tech platform. They are looking to grow quickly and become a national firm. For this role, they are looking for a qualified Solicitor who has previous experience of working within compliance and risk function within a law/Solicitors firm.

The Group is already established with estate agents, surveyors, mortgage brokers and home removal companies, and is now looking to complete the whole service with its own Solicitors' firm. The Group is at the pinnacle of technology, looking to speed the whole home moving process in the most efficient way possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for ensuring the overall compliance with the terms and conditions of the firms CLC authorisation.
  • Updating where necessary all internal compliance policies and the overall Compliance Plan, incorporating any changes into the firm's procedures, as well as being responsible for effectively disseminating such procedures on a firm-wide basis.
  • Responsibility for keeping abreast of all regulatory and other compliance changes, training staff on compliance and client facing quality of service to ensure service levels are met.
  • Reporting directly with the firm's Head of Conveyancing and Directors on matters of compliance and internal policy creation and providing regular reports on the status of the firms compliance arrangements. You will also oversee and sign off all lead generation and service advertisements to ensure all relevant CLC marketing requirements are met.
  • The above is not an exhaustive list, and in the role of HOLP you will be expected to understand other areas of compliance such as the firms training and CPD obligations, money laundering, data protection and solicitors accounts rules procedures.

Characteristics Required:

  • Our Client is looking for a dynamic "people person", who is technically and legally astute and capable of problem solving and thinking outside the box to ensure the ongoing compliance health of the firm.
  • Someone who is capable of delivering presentations to staff, as well as providing comprehensive reporting to the Management Team of the Group.
  • Someone who is approachable, and able to work well with others to create a collaborative and nurturing work environment.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be a qualified Solicitor, chartered legal executive or licenced conveyancer of at least 6 years' PQE.
  • Hybrid working out of either their Norwich or Derby offices.
  • Must have had at least two years in a compliance role working in a legal practice dealing with:

i) Client complaints

ii) KYC and money laundering procedures.

iii) Overseeing and ensuring compliance of firms regulatory requirements to ensure firms ongoing SRA authorisation.

iv) Consideration of client care documentation and firm terms and conditions to ensure compliance with relevant rules.

v) Understanding of transparency rules.

vi) Compliant advertising and lead generation.

Vii) Firm wide risk assessments.

viii) In-house regulatory training.

ix) Devising and implementing internal compliance failure reporting processes.

Remuneration: £50,000 - 65,000 per annum.
