Join our client's dynamic team, where they are committed to excellence in the food industry. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Procurement Manager to lead the supply base management and drive the supply chain strategy forward.

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Supply Chain Director and collaborating with various departments, you will be responsible for managing our supply base and delivering against the supply chain strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day management of the supply base, including stock agreements and monitoring.
  • Implement and manage the Supplier Management Framework.
  • Support the Supply Chain Director with contract negotiations.
  • Identify and secure suppliers, including new and contingency options.
  • Source products and materials, ensuring alignment with quality, service, cost, and innovation requirements.
  • Manage supplier performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Identify and exploit commercial opportunities through skilled negotiation and supplier relationship management.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement processes and legal requirements.
  • Contract management for indirect expenditure (e.g., port contracts, PPE, feed & waste management).
  • Develop strategic relationships with suppliers.
  • Regularly review and benchmark the global market and existing suppliers.
  • Lead cross-functional supply chain projects.
  • Build knowledge on materials and supplier market insights.
  • Report monthly on supply chain activities and KPIs.
  • Work cross-functionally to improve our sustainability journey.
  • Flexible working hours and locations, including remote work when necessary.

Personal Attributes & Education:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a Buyer or Procurement Manager role within the UK food industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and reporting skills.
  • Resilient with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ideally CIPS qualification or ambition to study towards it.
  • Good understanding of contract law and procurement processes.
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good project management skills.
  • A ‘can do’ attitude with a strong desire to meet strict targets and deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels.
  • Full driving licence with access to own car.
