Our client are a growing and dynamic multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy, providing a wide range of services across the majority of industry sectors including commercial, health, education, defence, residential and community. They require a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join them on a full time permanent basis in their Norwich office.

The role will provide Engineering support to the practice by providing expertise in the field of M&E engineering in the built environment and to include design and project management responsibilities.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services) Position Remuneration

  • Salary: 35k - 60k (Guide only - DOE).
  • Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays, increasing with service and including a Christmas shutdown.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services) Position Overview

  • Work with the Engineering Associate/Director on a regular basis, reporting weekly on progress.
  • Ensure all projects are completed to a high technical standard, on time and on budget.
  • Assist more junior staff with technical queries as appropriate to your knowledge and experience.
  • Carry out fee earning work, getting involved in design of schemes where appropriate and particularly where high-level technical expertise is required.
  • Undertake feasibility studies as required.
  • Meet with clients to establish project brief and budget costs for client consideration.
  • Draw up detailed specifications and drawings against client's briefs.
  • Review tenders received and prepare tender reports and recommendations.
  • Project manage site works from commencement to completion.
  • Monitor site works against specification requirements and agree contractor's final accounts.
  • Carry out inspections of existing installations and submit condition reports.
  • check and prepare information for fee Invoicing each month.
  • Manage day to day workload of individuals reporting directly to you, ensuring clarity of their roles, motivation of the team and wellbeing of individuals.
  • Advise director and partners on resources required, assisting at interview stage.
  • Develop the client base of the Practice by being proactive in pursuing marketing opportunities that arise and to pursue marketing initiatives as directed.
  • Prepare and/or contribute toward fee bids relevant to M+E related projects.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services) Position Requirements

  • Use of Amtech (Electrical) or IES (Mechanical) software, AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Familiar with relevant legislation, codes of practice, CIBSE guides, building regulations and best practice and environmentally sensitive.
  • Degree/Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers and/or The IET (or equivalents) or approaching.
  • Chartered Engineer status or approaching.
