Mechanical Technician – Are you a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Technician with a background in Water/Wastewater Treatment?  If so, we are looking for a passionate Mechanical Technician to join our Industrial Equipment Mechanics Team at the United States Air Force, 48th Civil Engineer Squadron, RAF Lakenheath.

About the role:

You will be responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various water and wastewater treatment systems to meet both UK and US standards and Environment Agency. This role is crucial in ensuring the delivery of fresh drinking water and efficient wastewater treatment throughout the base in buildings, industrial and institutional facilities and domestic housing. You will work 39 hours per week, working hours will be 7:30am – 4:00pm. You may be required to work other hours, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays including overtime and/or emergency overtime.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage both potable and non-potable water treatment systems
  • Diagnose and fix complex issues
  • Adhere to all relevant safety regulations and procedures
  • Utilise measuring instruments
  • Interpret diagrams, drawings, and manuals
  • Perform routine maintenance

About you:

Our ideal Mechanical Technician will have technical expertise in operational repairs and preventive maintenance of wastewater treatment equipment, with a strong focus on safety regulations and practises. You will have proficient analytical skills, experience of using various measuring instruments to determine system status, and an interpretive ability to understand detailed diagrams and technical manuals. Essential that you have experience of troubleshooting complex problems through test procedures and computer-controlled equipment.

Qualifications include City and Guilds/NVQ Level 2 in an appropriate discipline, a valid Category B driver's licence. You will need to undertake a pre-employment physical (including immunisations) for this role as there may be occasional exposure to communicable disease or infectious matter when changing filters.

All successful applicants will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK.
