Your new companyHays Accountancy & Finance are pleased to be supporting a Norwich-based organisation in their search for an experienced payroll clerk to join this newly created payroll team as they bring payroll back in-house.Your new roleThis is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in working with the Payroll Senior and Payroll Manager in setting up new payroll policies as well as processes as the team bring the payroll back in-house in the coming months.Once the payroll has been set up, your duties as the Payroll Clerk / Payroll Officer will involve supporting the payroll team in setting up new starters and closing payroll files for any leavers or making amendments to current workers. The organisation runs multiple monthly payrolls, so you will check the payroll data prior to payment, which will include P45's, / P46 forms, bank details and prepare salary deductions regarding NI, SSP, SMP, salary sacrifice, attachment of earnings, allowances, expenses / overtime etc, as well as checking any pre-employment checks with the HR teams.As part of the payroll team, you will assist managers with any payroll queries and produce payroll reports, so confident IT systems and communication skills are essential as you will also be responsible for pension queries.What you'll need to succeedYou will have experience of processing a payroll and be aware of payroll legislation including annual PAYE legislation, statutory regulations and HMRC reporting to include Real Time Reporting. As this is a busy payroll department, you will be a highly organised and confident person who has a passion for payroll. Any experience of a payroll system upgrade would be an advantage but not essential.What you'll get in returnThe organisation offers a competitive salary of circa £27,000 depending on experience, flexible hybrid working with an excellent benefits package.
