The OpportunityWe're seeking an Associate Director to take a lead role in managing projects, developing the team, and building business relationships. This role involves business development, client relationship management, and strategic project oversight, alongside mentoring and guiding junior staff. Working closely with the Regional Director, you will have a direct impact on the growth and success of the team, helping us deliver excellence across every project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Provide day-to-day team management, line management, mentoring, and performance support.
  • Client Engagement: Serve as a client ambassador, managing and exceeding client expectations, delivering strategic insights, and contributing technical expertise.
  • Project Management: Oversee complex planning submissions, appeals, and large-scale projects, managing timelines, budgets, and key outcomes.
  • Team Development: Lead, mentor, and coach team members, promoting continuous professional development and preparing junior staff for professional accreditation.
  • Business Development: Cultivate new client opportunities, identify strategic growth areas, and contribute to bids, proposals, and commercial contracts.
  • Strategic Oversight: Leverage technical knowledge to enhance project outcomes and support the company's strategic goals, ensuring effective project delivery.
  • Technical Expertise: Act as an expert on planning legislation, maintaining a strong professional presence both within the organization and across the industry.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: RTPI-accredited degree or master's in planning or a related field.
  • Professional Membership: Chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
  • Experience: Extensive experience in planning, ideally within the private sector, with a background in managing teams and handling senior client relationships.
