Finance Assistant

Join our client’s dedicated finance team as a Finance Assistant, where you will play a crucial role in achieving the strategic aim of financial sustainability. This role is perfect for someone looking to start out in their Accountancy career!

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide support to the Finance team in daily activities.
  • Assist in liaising with budget holding staff regarding budget performance.
  • Assist with the review and processing of monthly payroll reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Handle transactions, including journal entries, and reconcile monthly credit card, petty cash, and bank accounts.
  • Support the preparation of monthly finance reports for budget holders, using financial systems and spreadsheets.
  • Identify and investigate variances.
  • Assist in budgeting activities and the preparation of year-end schedules, financial returns, and other ad-hoc financial projects.
  • Perform general office administrative duties, including answering phones and maintaining records.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in financial roles.
  • Strong understanding of financial systems and transaction processing.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
