Reed Norwich Accountancy is working with an esteemed national law firm to resource a Senior Finance Assistant to join our dynamic finance operations team. This role offers the opportunity to engage in comprehensive financial tasks and contribute to the firm's success by ensuring compliance and efficiency in financial operations.
Day-to-day of the role:- Undertake general cashiering tasks and assist in processing client and office transactions in accordance with the Solicitors Regulations Authority Accounts Rules.
- Process Client and Office account transactions, ensuring adherence to compliance and best practices.
- Conduct inter-account transfers and assist with Purchase Ledger invoices and payments.
- Liaise on the firm's credit card line and assist the team with various Month End procedures.
- Maintain accurate accounting data on the computing system, ensuring current procedures for authorisation are observed.
- Advise and assist fee earners and executive assistants in correct accounting procedures to enable timely and accurate client work.
- Complete regular bank reconciliations and post necessary corrections.
- Address queries from clients, banks, and other related institutions.
- Assist auditors by providing required information and support during audits.
- Suggest and implement ways to improve efficiency in the finance team through better use of technology or changes in working practices.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fee earners and executive assistants.
- Assist with the implementation of new systems and working practices across the firm.
- Experience in the legal industry or a professional services firm with a financial background.
- Proven track record of delivering excellent internal/external client service.
- Previous experience with legal cashiering is preferred.
- Solid educational background with at least 6 GCSEs at grade 4 and above, or equivalent.
- Hold or be working towards an accounting qualification.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills, confident in interacting with all levels.
- Organised, methodical, and proactive in managing work.
- Team player, comfortable working both locally and remotely with finance colleagues.
