P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our client, who is currently seeking a Field Service Engineerto join their team based in Norwich on a full-time, permanent basis.

Role Summary:

In this role, you will be working on-site at customer locations, both in the UK and abroad, either on your own or leading a small team. After completion of product training (in factory and on the job training) you will install, commission and test company designed systems utilising your electronic, digital and electromechanical skills.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out installation, commissioning, repair, service and training of company designed systems and submarine navigation plotting tables.
  • Once trained and deemed competent, carrying out live testing of systems to ensure accurate fault diagnosis.
  • Coordinating with the Project Managers and Customer Support Manager in order to ensure effective delivery of service to the customer at their sites.
  • Producing complete, accurate and timely reports.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers, whilst delivering high standards of work and customer service.
  • Adhering to health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Constructing, conducting and instructing training courses within the factory and at customer locations.
  • Attending Sea Trials for periods of times at sea, keeping shipping routines.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree/HND/HNC/ONC in Electronic Engineering.
  • Proven and demonstrable field service experience.
  • Technical knowledge of diagnosing and repairing, digital, electronic, electromechanical and/or electronic equipment.
  • Able to read complex wiring diagrams and devise workable fault diagnosis instructions.
  • Physically fit to Eng 1 standard and be capable of passing Sea Survival course.
  • High level of computer literacy to include Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
  • Full Driving Licence to drive in the UK and abroad.
  • UK Valid passport with no travel restrictions.
  • Qualifications in weapons inspection, repair and servicing. (Desirable)
  • Experience of compiling and delivering training courses. (Desirable)
  • Previous customer facing Service Engineer role. (Desirable).

  • Polite and confident in speaking at all levels.
  • A positive 'can do’ approach with an ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers in possible extreme environmental conditions, in the UK and abroad.
  • Resourceful, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible and can adapt quickly to changing schedules.
  • Reside within a daily commutable distance of Norwich.
  • Drive and willingness to learn and develop.
  • Physically fit to be able to work in harsh (hot and cold) environments in the UK and overseas.
  • Work inclusively in a small close-knit team, parting knowledge and sharing information is critical to the success of a first-time diagnosis of customer equipment failures.
