Our client, a leading engineering firm, is looking for a Field Service Engineer with a passion for electronic fault-finding and troubleshooting to join their growing team. If you're ready to travel extensively to customer locations both in the UK and abroad, this could be the role for you!
About the Role:
As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the installation, commissioning, and support of advanced weapon systems. After comprehensive product training, you'll use your electronic and electro-mechanical skills to maintain and test specialized equipment designed for defense applications. This role requires hands-on expertise and a high degree of adaptability, with responsibilities that include:
- Installing, commissioning, repairing, and servicing advanced gunnery systems and other products.
- Conducting live firing of weapon-mounted systems after training and competency validation.
- Performing accurate fault diagnosis and coordinating with Project Managers for effective service delivery.
- Producing detailed reports and building strong relationships with customers.
- Leading training courses for customers, both on-site and at the factory.
- Participating in sea trials and adapting to ship routines when required.
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
- Degree/HND/HNC/ONC in Electronic Engineering.
- Proven experience in a field service role.
- Physically fit and capable of passing a Sea Survival course.
- Technical knowledge of diagnosing and repairing digital, electronic, and electro-mechanical equipment.
- Proficient in reading wiring diagrams and developing fault diagnosis instructions.
- Strong communication skills, adaptable, and able to build customer relationships.
- High level of computer literacy, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to commute daily to Norwich.
Desirable:
- Qualifications in weapon inspection, repair, and servicing.
- Experience delivering training courses.
- Prior experience in a customer-facing service engineer role.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in various environments, including extreme conditions in the UK and overseas.
- Collaborative team environment that values information sharing for effective diagnosis.
The working hours are Monday-Thursday 8:15am- 5.00pm and Friday 8:15am- 12:45pm.You will be rewarded with an above market rate salary that will reflect your skills and experience.In addition, you will receive 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays, company pension, free parking and other benefits.
