Student and Family Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated Student and Family Support Worker to join our team, working under the guidance of the Deputy Headteacher for Student Welfare. This role is crucial in supporting students and their families, helping to reduce barriers to learning and fostering a supportive environment.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide learning and pastoral support to pupils, offering feedback on progress, achievement, behaviour, and attendance.
  • Supervise pupils excluded from or not working to a normal timetable, such as those on part-time timetables or work experience.
  • Develop 1:1 mentoring arrangements and support pupils in distress needing time out from their normal schedule.
  • Collaborate with the pastoral team, support agency representatives, pupils, and parents as part of the reintegration or behaviour review process.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate behaviour management strategies.
  • Manage a caseload under the supervision of the LSC Manager, responding constructively to parent/carers exchanges to encourage support for their child’s education.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a similar role within an educational setting, ideally with a focus on student welfare.
  • Ability to establish productive relationships with students, acting as a role model.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills to effectively manage caseloads and liaise with various stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, and confidentiality policies.
  • First aid training is desirable but not mandatory.
