SF Recruitment is pleased to be working in partnership with a local Nottinghamshire business who are looking to recruit a Financial Accountant. About the role: The Financial Accountant will work as part of a small and highly efficient team to support production of accurate and timely financial statements to management and other stakeholders. Main duties and responsibilities include: - Provide technical accounting expertise to ensure a consistent and high-quality finance service, providing cover for all team activities where required, to facilitate effective and efficient service delivery. - Manage the development of process improvement and change for finance processes across the business ensuring financial controls are followed and policies, procedures and process notes are routinely reviewed, updated and communicated to the business where necessary. - Manage the company cash position to ensure the financial position of the business is maintained within acceptable levels and action taken to address cash flow pressures, prior to payment run and payroll. - Provide monthly management accounts to ensure the business has adequate financial information to make informed decisions. - Provide monthly balance sheet and payroll control reconciliations to provide assurance that the financial statements are accurate, taxation and statutory accounts are correct and taking care of tax preparation duties or liaising with external tax accountant for tax preparation - Undertake monthly checks to ensure the financial controls are followed in accordance with finance policies and sign off month-end task lists and highlight non-compliance to senior managers. - Liaise with the software support to produce and analyse reports across all areas to ensure errors are captured, data cleansing and system housekeeping is up to date, and any actions resulting from the analysis are resolved in a timely manner to ensure accuracy and integrity to safeguard the assets of the business. - Provide technical support for year end accounts preparation including the audit preparation in accordance with the agreed audit plan About you: The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years' experience working within an accounts department within a company with revenue of at least £25m per annum. Other skills and experience required - ACCA/ACA/ Qualified/Part-qualified - Strong all-round communicator - Strong time management skills and ability to work independently - Hands on and driven with a genuine interest to understanding how the business works - Adaptable and flexible approach to work - Must be self-motivated and able to organise & manage their own workload within an extremely busy accounts department. - Advanced user of Excel would be advantageous. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential.
