Financial Controller | £60,000 - £65,000 | Nottingham | Office Based | Pivotal Role

Are you a hands-on finance professional who loves rolling your sleeves up and getting stuck in?

We're working with a growing SME in Nottingham who are looking to appoint a proactive, commercially minded Financial Controller to take ownership of their day-to-day finance operations.

Reporting directly into the senior leadership team, this is a brilliant opportunity to make a real impact in a business that values insight, initiative, and continuous improvement.

What you'll be doing:

  • Full ownership of the monthly management accounts - including accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Lead on budgeting, forecasting and supporting the wider business with financial insight
  • Work closely with the external accountants on statutory reporting and year-end
  • Use your Excel skills to build, improve and automate reporting
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and support commercial decision-making
  • Manage and support a small finance team (including a Management Accountant)
  • Play a key role in developing and improving processes and controls

About you:

  • You'll be a "doer" - someone happy to be hands-on but also comfortable stepping back to look at the bigger picture
  • Strong grounding in management accounting, balance sheet work and financial reporting
  • Comfortable in Excel and ideally experienced with Xero
  • Commercially minded, curious, and confident working closely with senior stakeholders
  • Qualified or QBE - they're open, so long as you've got the experience and attitude
