Qualified Practice Accountant | Nottingham | Full Time | £30,000 - £45,000 per annum (Dependent on Experience)

An established independent Nottingham accountancy firm looking to expand their longstanding and friendly team. If you have a strong background in general practice and are now looking for a long-term career move in a stable environment this could be the role for you.

The firm offers a competitive salary and a lovely working environment with an interesting client base. This hands-on position will provide plenty of variety, encompassing accounts preparation, bookkeeping and self assessment tax returns for a range of entrepreneurs, owner-managed businesses, high net worth individuals and SMEs.

You will have the opportunity to become a key member of the business embracing the company's mission to become the Trusted Adviser to their clients. The firm is seeking someone able to hit the ground running and work in support to other staff members.

Are you the right person for the job?

  • ACA or ACCA qualification is ideal but not essential
  • Have minimum 5 years current experience within an accounting practice
  • Proven ability to prepare financial statements and tax returns
  • Supervisory or management experience within a team
  • Professional, supportive, nurturing, and friendly demeanour with colleagues and clients
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills, with the ability to translate technical matters into simple English
  • Be flexible in your approach to work and be able to multi-task
  • Strong time management and delegative skills
  • Strong IT skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and general Accounting/Taxation Software
  • Enjoy working with a variety of clients, delivering high quality service and contributing to the development of their business
  • High levels of organisation and attention to detail are essential, as well as a genuine enthusiasm for the role
  • Be dedicated to delivering a quality service to clients

In addition to the above, successful candidates will be commercially minded, displaying a level of flexibility, professionalism, confidence and ability to build successful relationships through credibility, trust and mutual respect.

What will your role look like?

  • Managing a diverse portfolio of clients and Proactively dealing with client queries and requests in relation to accounting and taxation matters
  • Preparation or review of corporate and non-corporate accounts and tax returns to an excellent standard
  • Leading client relationships, advising clients and building relationships
  • Ensuring completion of assigned areas of work within the time budget and deadlines to the standard set and with minimum of supervision by the managers
  • Supporting and working closely with bookkeeping and payroll colleagues
  • Providing supervisory assistance, coaching and mentoring to junior staff, as and when required
  • Prioritising your own work and deadlines
  • Being up to date with technical knowledge and changes in the accountancy profession, driving best practice in the team and ensuring the team continues to develop
  • Dealing with HMRC submissions and correspondence
  • Provide support on accounting/tax projects and reviews
