RM Recruit is excited to partner with a well-established organisation in Nottingham in the search for a confident and articulate Assistant Accountant to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. Our client is able to offer a flexible hybrid working arrangements, with three days based in the office and two days working remotely.

As the Assistant Accountant, you will play a vital role within the finance team, reporting directly to the Head of Finance. You will be responsible for supporting both the credit control and purchase ledger functions, contributing to efficient financial operations, and providing high-quality support across departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Credit Control Management: Oversee customer accounts, ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances, reducing overdue debt, and maintaining thorough records of all communications. Your role will be integral in maintaining positive client relationships and ensuring effective credit management.
  • Invoice Processing: Accurately process supplier invoices, match them to purchase orders, and ensure all payments are authorized and completed within agreed terms. You will be key to maintaining the integrity of supplier relationships and payment processes.
  • Reconciliations and Discrepancies: Conduct supplier statement reconciliations and promptly address any discrepancies. Your attention to detail will ensure smooth month-end processes and accurate financial records.
  • Month-End Close Support: Assist in the month-end closing activities, including the preparation of financial reports and reconciliations, to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Internal and External Liaison: Collaborate with internal departments and external suppliers to promptly resolve queries, ensuring strong relationships and smooth operations.
  • Compliance and Record Maintenance: Maintain detailed and accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Additional Financial Duties: Support weekly BACS runs, assist with quarterly VAT returns for review, and prepare bank reconciliations.

The ideal candidate will be AAT part-qualified or bring equivalent experience, with a strong background in a similar finance role. Previous experience in stakeholder reporting is highly beneficial, as the role demands clear, professional communication with various internal and external stakeholders. We are looking for a candidate who demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, and confident communication skills with the ability to prioritise effectively in a dynamic environment and has a proactive approach to problem-solving.
