Progress Rail are looking to recruit a Foundry Supervisor to manage the day to day activities of Melting and casting, whilst maintaining a hands on approach, concentrating on safety, quality and the environment and production.


THE ROLE:
As a Foundry Supervisor you will be required to:

Ensure that the employees understand and work safely at all times and are adequately trained for the work. Concentrating on housekeeping, safe working instruction training and continual improvement.

Ensure that safety and environmental requirements are met and that employees work to the Company procedures and legislation by fostering a safety first approach to undertaking work.

Brief the team on a regular basis and promote effective communication and flow of ideas to enhance the business operations

Ensure quality standards are met and improved where possible

Increase the operational efficiency of the individuals and team

Allocation of work to individuals in accordance with the production schedule ensuring on time completion

Assist in the development of team members and ensure discipline is maintained and the rules are enforced where appropriate

Solve production problems and continuously improve in all areas of operation

Communicate with other departments and expedite service, information and materials

Assist with production improvements and budgetary changes as required

Solve production problems and continuously improve in all areas of operation

Solves production problems at local level and continuously improves all areas of production

Assists in the planning & training of a multi-skilled workforce

Understands and acts on the training needs of self and others

Ensures that employees work within Health, Safety & Environmental procedures

Ensures the accurate use of the Time & Attendance systems

Ensures that inductions, risk assessments and method statements are in place where necessary

Ensure plant and equipment is maintained safely and fit for purpose, reporting and resolving defects

Organises environmental waste disposal


THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal Foundry Supervisor:

  • A background within a Foundry or similar environment is essential
  • Prior experience of all Foundry processes
  • Problem solving approach and ability to formulate and sell ideas for change
  • Previous supervisory experience desirable
  • Excellent Communication skills to liaise at all levels in order to develop procedures to improve productivity
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and procedural requirements
  • Environmental awareness and waste control training as required
