Reed Further Education are seeking a Chef Lecturer for temporary cover within a catering & hospitality faculty of a post-16 college. This role involves teaching various culinary skills and theory across different levels, from Wednesday to Friday. The curriculum includes Professional Chef Diploma Level 1 and 2, and NVQ levels 2 and 3, focusing on culinary prep skills, butchery, fish preparation, and theoretical planning.

Job Title: Chef Lecturer

Position: Wed to Fri, part-time, 18 hours

Role type: Temporary Ongoing until March 7th

Location: Nottingham

Pay Rate: £28p/h to £35p/h including holiday pay

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Teach and assess culinary skills: Deliver practical sessions on butchery, fish and vegetable preparation, and various cooking methods. Assess students according to City & Guilds guidelines.
  • Curriculum planning and delivery: Plan and deliver theoretical content for NVQ3, including portfolio management and assessment tracking.
  • Student engagement and support: Engage with students to ensure understanding and retention of culinary skills and theory. Provide support and advice to students on their coursework and practical assessments.
  • Quality assurance and improvement: Regularly review and enhance teaching practices and materials to meet educational standards and improve student outcomes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience in a relevant field.
  • Minimum level 3 qualification in the subject area.
  • Teaching qualification preferred.
  • Ideally holding an Assessor's L3 A1 award or equivalent.
  • Strong practical knowledge in culinary arts, especially in professional chef diplomas and NVQ levels.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service.
