Job Description: Commercial Gas Engineer
Location: East Midlands
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00
Company Overview
Our client are a well-established and growing building services maintenance company, delivering high-quality maintenance solutions to a wide range of commercial clients. Due to continued expansion, we are now seeking a qualified and experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join their East Midlands team.
Role Purpose
The Commercial Gas Engineer will be responsible for delivering planned maintenance, reactive repairs, and breakdown services to commercial gas systems across multiple client sites. The role also includes minor building maintenance tasks and requires a strong client-facing presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance of commercial gas appliances and systems
- Diagnose and repair gas-related faults in a safe and timely manner
- Perform routine servicing and safety inspections in accordance with current regulations
- Provide minor building maintenance support where required
- Respond to emergency call-outs on a rota basis (1 in 4)
- Accurately complete job reports and maintain compliance with relevant documentation and standards
- Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with clients and site representatives
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in a relevant mechanical or gas discipline
- Valid Commercial Gas Certifications (e.g. COCN1, ICPN1, TPCP1A, etc.)
- Proven experience in servicing and maintaining commercial gas systems
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
- Experience with basic building maintenance tasks
- Previous work within commercial contracts or facilities management settings
Package & Benefits
- Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 (dependent on experience)
- Working Hours: 08:00 – 16:00, Monday to Friday
- Call-Out Rota: 1 in 4 (Standby £50, Minimum Call-out £100 for first 4 hours, then 1.5x OT rate)
- Overtime Rate: 1.5x standard hourly rate

Additional Information
- This role involves working across multiple commercial sites within the East Midlands, with average travel limited to 30 minutes east/west of home base
- The role is part of a small, friendly team of 3 engineers
- The successful candidate will be working for one of HVAC FM's longest-standing clients
- Interviews will be conducted via MS Teams or face-to-face
