About the Role

As the Technical Building Surveyor for Nottingham City Council, you will provide technical expertise for Nottingham City Councils Disrepair team.

Reporting to the Disrepair Manager, you will focus on undertaking property inspections for disrepair and producing detailed reports, establishing causation, and recommending appropriate remedial works. You will be responsible for producing detailed specifications of work, ensuring all property related statutory, regulatory and corporate requirements are met.

As the first point of contact for disrepair, the position will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Council fulfils its legal repairing obligations, to the satisfaction of its tenants.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Strong knowledge of building construction, defect diagnosis and building pathology, including construction methods, building standards and how they are applied.
  2. Knowledge of legislation affecting building operations, e.g. British Standards, Approved Codes of Practice, Building and Planning Regulations, standard forms of building contract, CDM regulations, and relevant Health and Safety legislation, and other construction based legislation.
  3. Proven ability of carrying out accurate site and desk surveys, calculations and estimates for construction or maintenance work
  4. Ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner to a diverse range of individuals and external stakeholders using a wide range of methods.
  5. Degree in Building Surveying or HND/HNC level qualification in a building construction related field or track experience.
  6. Professional Qualification, i.e. RICS, CIOB, CABE or equivalent /or working towards
