This is an exciting opportunity to join our business critical Commercial Strategy & Planning team as a Global Commercial Strategy Manager. Your role is to ensure we are prioritising the best global innovation on some of the beauty industry’s most recognised and loved brands including No7, Soap & Glory and Liz Earle, and ensuring our plans are as strong and as profitable as possible.

You will report directly into the Head of Commercial Strategy & Planning and you will work hand in hand with an incredible and diverse team across multiple functions including: Global Product & Innovation, Global Brand, Local Marketing, Local Commercial and Global Insights to ensure our innovation plans are best in class and that they deliver against our global commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for setting the innovation sales targets for our global team and you will monitor the expected performance against these targets using local market forecast data. You will flag any risks of commercial delivery into the leadership team and drive action against these.
  • You will partner with the global and local teams to align on the innovation pipeline across each of our brands. Your responsibility within this is to ensure that the innovation plans are set to deliver against the sales targets and that they adhere to our principles of fewer, bigger, better. You will also support the cross functional teams to prioritize innovation opportunities within the plan.
  • You will liaise with local and global teams to ensure local requirements are listened to, are commercially prioritized and are balanced against our global simplification principles
  • You will own the global pricing decisions for new products using a combination of brand guidelines, market insight and profit targets to define these; briefing in price research where necessary.
  • You will be the key business case partner to local teams, pressure testing commercial assumptions and supporting teams to overcome challenges to improve the profitability of new products
  • You will be the commercial partner to our innovation delivery teams to ensure any impacts on cost are reviewed and mitigation plans are explored where possible
  • You will be curious to lead on (and identify) projects that can improve our ways of working and innovation delivery e.g. improving sales forecasting, setting minimum sales thresholds for innovation, setting global price principles

What you’ll need to have

  • Confident in analysing multiple data sets to make clear insight led recommendations
  • A proven track record in managing and influencing senior stakeholders, and driving commercially sound decision making
  • Being comfortable taking on multiple different points of view and being able to galvanise a cross functional team to reach alignment and drive action
  • Having a support and challenge mindset, being curious to understand plans and assumptions, and identifying routes to improve on these

It would be great if you also have

  • Knowledge of wider shopper and consumer trends that are influencing the retail landscape
  • Experience in using market data sources e.g. IRI, Neilsen, Kantar
  • Experience of working within a retail business environment
  • Experience from a commercial or finance function
